July 2012

Dear Professional,

“The Reliance motto - ‘Growth is Life’ – underlines how we do business, create value and engage with our stakeholders. In 2012, we have posted our highest ever turnover of USD 66.8 billion and our net profit has increased to USD 3.9 billion. As India’s largest private sector corporation, we believe Reliance can significantly contribute to the growth of the communities we operate in, and thereby the nation. We also expect to remain a significant contributor to the nation’s energy security endeavor.

At Reliance, we bet on the businesses of the future. In the next five years, we will invest Rs 100,000 crore in energy, retail and telecom businesses, which we believe are the fountainhead of our growth in the years to come. Reliance Retail, the retail arm of RIL, has already reached revenues of Rs 7,600 crore in five years of operation and is looking at a turnover of around Rs 50,000 crore in the next three to four years.

We are also committed to doubling RIL’s operating profits and we will achieve in the next five years what we have accomplished in the last 35 years.

Last year, I spoke of transformation being at the top of the business agenda of Reliance. For us, transformation is about institutionalizing the competencies and capabilities of our organization and people, expanding the breadth and efficiency of our businesses and creating value for all our shareholders. While Innovation is embedded in the DNA of Reliance, our transformation initiative has created a robust, process-driven organization to attract and retain the best of talent, with the objective of continuously outperforming our global peers. This effort – in both scope and outcome - is unique and without a parallel.

The Reliance Accelerated Leadership Program (RALP) is at the center of this growth agenda. By betting on it, we are betting on the future. The RALP is a program for achievers – proven, and sometimes, in the making. I have been personally involved with the conceptualization and roll out of this program and am committed to its success. The RALP is a two-year, leadership development program to attract, inspire and groom the best talent in India; with no equivalent in Indian industry. RALP participants will get many opportunities to rise to the highest levels at Reliance.

It gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction to inform you that the first batch of RALP has successfully completed one year. I take this opportunity to invite young professionals, with outstanding abilities and a passion for success through learning and collaboration, to apply for the RALP. We can promise the chosen few an opportunity to lead in Reliance’s unique journey of growth, as we scale greater heights and explore newer horizons.”

I look forward to meeting you over the coming months.

Mukesh Ambani
